Tonight’s Homeland was as dramatic as ever as CIA hotshot Carrie was abducted by terrorist mastermind Abu Nazir, in a plot to blackmail Nicholas Brody.
Brody’s allegiances have never been truly confirmed and tonight’s episode posed the dilemma of what Brody would be willing to do for Carrie, given that she’s his on-off love interest. Abu Nazir’s demands came in the most bizarre of plot twists, as Brody was forced to get the serial number of the Vice President’s pacemaker.
It’s hardly a full blown attack on the whole of America, but it’s a fantastically inventive idea that Brody goes along with, killing the Vice President and saving Carrie.
We also saw Dar Adul confirm the rumour that Quinn was a black ops operative, suggesting that Carrie isn’t entirely trusted by the CIA.
Homeland always comes off as one of the most proficiently tense shows on TV and tonight didn’t disappoint at all. Even if tonight’s plot was arguably far fetched, it went far in making the show a gripping watch and it’s this that makes Homeland one of the best shows on TV right now. Just like it’s central protagonist, Homeland can never be trusted, nothing is it at it seems, thriving on twists at every opportunity. We’re loving it.
