The showbiz community hasn't entirely forgiven LeAnn Rimes for getting together with partner Eddie Cibrian when they were both married to other people. And according to an interview she did with Giuliana Rancic, it would appear that she hasn't forgiven herself, either.
During the show, which will be broadcast in the US on the E! Channel, LeAnn said "I wish I handled it differently because I wish it could have been better for me, for Brandi, for Dean, for Eddie, for everyone," shortly before bursting into tears.
LeAnn has been involved in an intense Twitter war with Eddie's ex, Real Housewives star Brandi Glanville, the star says in the E! interview that she and Eddie carefully considered continuing their relationship and ending their marriages because they knew how much hurt it would cause:
"No one will ever understand how much thought and hurt were put into our decision to end their respective marriages. All I wish is that everybody we hurt, that I hurt, can be happy."
LeAnn has been to rehab to get over anxiety and stress issues. She defended her actions to Giuliana, saying "I don't think anything can separate anything that's super-connected.
"You might have had so many wonderful things with each other's spouses in your relationship, but something along the way broke that. You can't break what's broken already."
During the interview, the blonde star also discusses her 30-day stint in rehab, admitting "When you look around and you go "I'm crying, like, uncontrollably, no one can help me," that's when I knew I had to seek help...I was incredibly depressed and not quite sure of who I was."
LeAnn's husband Eddie also defended the star in the interview, saying "My heart goes out to her every single time she's getting bashed for something. It's unfair for her and it's unfair for us. [The affair] wasn't frivolous, you know."
LeAnn had been involved in a bitter spat with Cibriani's ex Brandi after the Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills star made accusations that her son fell ill after swallowing one of the singer's laxatives she uses because of a eating disorder.
In a statement to EntertainmentWise this week, Rimes' publicist responded to Brandi's accusations: "There is only one person constantly speaking to the press and that is Brandi. Why do you think that is? Her whole show is based on controversy, drama and publicity. She is the only one to gain by spewing forth inaccuracies, rants and half-truths. "
"Brandi keeps grasping at straws to make LeAnn seem like an unfit person. Brandi's story changes daily, one day it's an eating disorder, one day it's twitter, one day the boys aren't safe, etc. She says she hasn't seen or spoken to LeAnn in months but yet knows everything that is going on. None of Brandi's allegations are true. People need to see it for what it is - PUBLICITY! It's time for Brandi to move on. LeAnn has!"
