Five years ago she suffered a very public breakdown which forced her into rehab.
But although Britney Spears has bounced back from her ordeal with a sold-out tour and a coveted job on the X Factor USA judging panel, is it all about to go horribly wrong for her again?
According to National Enquirer, the 31-year-old pop star is losing the plot backstage which has raised new concern over the state of her mental health.
The American tabloid reports that Britney is feeling overwhelmed, paranoid and insecure in her new role on the panel and has turned to fellow judge Demi Lovato for reassurance.
A tenuous source told the publication: "Britney was in Demi's dressing room crying her eyes out because she's cracking under the strain of producers constantly coaching her on how to be more outgoing, talkative and constructive on-camera."
The source said Demi tried to comfort and reassure her and tell her it was all in her head but added: "It's not, of course, because despite the coaching, Britney continues to come across as stiff and boring."
In 2007, Britney's meltdown saw her shave off all her hair and pictured strapped to a guerney by paramedics who took her to hospital in Los Angeles where she was placed under suicide watch. Her assets were handed over to her father Jamie and she still under the court-ordered conservatorship.
With a court refusing to lift it in August, are there still fears Britney could have another breakdown? What do you think?
