Strictly's Louis Smith's Ex Speaks Out About Their Breakup And Claims He Left Her

The Strictly star has no bad feelings with his ex Billie Whyatt

Olympics and Strictly Come Dancing star Louis Smith’s ex-girlfriend has talked for the first time about their split which he said had ripped his heart in half.

Billie Whyatt, who bares no bad feelings towards Louis, 23, was his childhood friend and sweetheart.

But she remembers their relationship differently and told The Sunday People: "I didn’t break his heart. In fact he was the one who left in the first place.

"He moved out and that was the end of our relationship. I was shocked."

Billie, 20, told how it was Louis who left her – after he became stressed as a result of his gruelling training sessions.

The gymnast’s preparations for the London Olympics this summer also took a toll on their relationship.

She explained: "He had involvement in our break-up too. It was kind of a mutual thing.

"When I read that I broke his heart I don’t feel bad because we did the right thing at the time and he knew it too. I don’t feel bad."

"We lived together for a couple of months but it was so intense with all of his gymnastics and that’s why he moved home and I think he’s still living there. When he left I was shocked.

"But we talked about it and I realised that perhaps we needed to have a break and he had to concentrate on his gymnastics. It was for the best."

But as Louis' fame grew, Billie had seen several interviews in which he seemed to blame her for leaving him.

He was reported as saying: "I've had one girlfriend, one break-up, and that was very painful indeed. I think that’s probably why I’m so hesitant to get into another relationship. I’m not saying that all women are the same, and I don’t want to go into what my ex did, but you want to trust someone. And it’s hard when you put everything into a relationship and your trust gets abused.”

But Billie insisted the pair split because they were after different things.

Billie added: "He's a good boyfriend. He was romantic too. He was fun and sweet. Any girl would be lucky to have him as their boyfriend. He was very caring and very romantic. There was nothing bad there."

Despite their differing memories of how the relationship ended, Billie insists that herself and Louis are still friends.

Ahh, well at least they still get along as friends!
