Liam Payne: 'One Direction Is Harder Work Than University'

Singer's student friends have easier life

Liam Payne insists being a member of One Direction is much more exhausting than university life.

The singer, 19, claims he lives like a student in some ways but has to work much harder to ensure his band continues to enjoy global success.

He told You magazine: “In some ways we are like students in the way we live, except we work harder.

“Whenever I ring any of my mates at uni - around two in the afternoon because they never wake up before then - and ask what they are doing, they usually say, ‘Just hanging in halls playing FIFA.’”

Liam and his bandmates Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson are certainly reaping the benefits of their hard work - they have reportedly earned £40 million between them over the last year.

He said: “I think of it like this - there are a lot of people who get paid a lot for doing not much at all, you know, like socialites who get paid for appearing in reality shows, but we earn what we earn for doing an awful lot. We’re constantly working.”
