Idris Elba: 'I'd Be Honoured To Be First Black James Bond'

Actor would love 007 role

Actor Idris Elba says it would be “an absolute honour” to become the first black James Bond.

The 'Luther' star, from Hackney in London, is reportedly set to replace current 007, Daniel Craig, after 'Skyfall' actress Naomie Harris claimed he was in talks with the movie franchise's producer, Barbara Broccoli.

And while he refuses to confirm the rumours, he admits he would love to take on the part.

He told the London Evening Standard: “Who wouldn't want to do that role? It would be an absolute honour. But Daniel Craig is doing an amazing job and I don't think he's going to be moving any time soon.”

Elba is currently working on movie 'Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom', in which Harris also features.

On the project, he said: “It's a massive, epic piece and I'm really proud of it.”
