The East coast of the US might be in lockdown as they wait for the arrival of super storm Hurricane Sandy, but according to Kim Kardashian, the star isn't worried one bit as if anything happens to her boyfriend Kanye West would “sail her to safety.”

The star made the comment as she stepped out in New York on Saturday night to host the Midori Green Halloween party for the second year in a row and was dressed as a buxom blonde mermaid while her boyfriend went as a sailor.

She joked to the Washington Post that the nautical-themed West would be able to sail to her rescue if anything went wrong. The star's impressive costume took two months to plan and four hours to perfect.

While she might have been talking about the impending weather disaster in jest on Saturday night, the star has clearly taken President Obama's warning about the Hurricane seriously and on Friday was photographed stock piling water in Miami where she is currently filming her latest reality TV spin off Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.

Kim and Kourtney queued up at the supermarket for supplies as they got ready for the storm. Earlier she tweeted that she had left New York before the full brunt of the weather hit the city.

She wrote: “Back in Miami now. Missed the storm. I'm praying for everyone on the East Coast. I hope everyone is safe!”
