Adam Levine Defends Christina Aguilera Over 'Nasty' Weight Criticism

The coach has blamed the bullying on today's 'celebrity culture'

Adam Levine has defended fellow The Voice coach Christina Aguilera against criticism she has received for her weight recently, blaming it on the 'horrible' celebrity culture.

Although the two singers have had their disagreements on the show in the past, Adam has spoken out about the awful comments that have been made about Christina's curves, branding people 'bullies'.

Levine has revealed to People that the The Voice fights were "fictional", saying: "We never hated each other. We never had these secret battles that everyone thought we were having."

The Maroon 5 singer also went on to defend Aguilera against those who have been "nasty" about her weight gain, saying they should "grow up" and that the comments are "bullying".

The star also said: "It's not cool. I've never liked it. I think it's horrible and I'll totally defend [Christina] when people say things like that because it's no-one's business."

He continued: "The one thing about the culture right now, celebrity culture particularly, is people feel like they can just say nasty things about other people whether it's Christina or whether it's me."

"She gets a lot and it pisses me off. Of course I have her back and of course I defend her."

The bullying comes after Xtina was offered a whopping $3 million to become the face of plus size modelling agency, TheBigAndTheBeautiful.com.

We're not sure if Xtina will be offended by the gesture from the first-ever pluz-size winner of America's Next Top Model, but we're sure the many dollars to take the job will soften the blow!

The 'Dirrty' singer's weight has certainly fluctuated over the past ten years, going up rapidly after she gave birth to her son. She's suffered criticism from other celebrities, with Kelly Osbourne piping up: "[Aguilera] called me fat for so many f---ing years. F--- you, you're fat, too," she said on the show, "Maybe she is just becoming the fat b---h she was born to be."

Play nice, ladies!
