X Factor's Chris Maloney Responds To His Critics After Claims He Fled Show

The X Factor star speaks out after a 'tough week'

X Factor contestant Chris Maloney has admitted that this has been the toughest week for him in the duration of the competition so far.

The hopeful, who is being mentored by Take That star Gary Barlow, has endured weeks of the British tabloids branding him a diva and reporting on alleged back stage tantrums. He has also had to listen to rumours that big boss Simon Cowell wants him out of the competition for good.

As well as having to deal with his negative press Liverpudlian Chris' week took a further turn for the worse when he had to rush back to his home town to support a friend who had just had a miscarriage.

Chris spoke to the Liverpool Echo and said, "I've had a difficult week really. One of my best friends had a miscarriage, my nan hasn't been well and all this diva stuff is still in the papers."

Having had a difficult week with problems at home things went from bad to worse for Chris who had to read further cutting remarks- but this time from former contestants MK1, who were eliminated from the competition last week.

The duo appeared to confirm the diva reports when they blasted Christopher's antics saying he  "had the tendency to be a little diva."

Responding to these comments Chris told his local newspaper that it was deeply upsetting to read what MK1 had said, because he was "friends with them and went for coffee with them."

Chris went on to say, "I feel really down, but I'm just trying to focus. I don't want to let Gary down."
