Russell T Davies, head-writer of Doctor Who between 2005 and 2010, has confirmed that he will not be involved in Doctor Who's 50th anniversary episode.

The BBC sci-fi drama will be celebrating it 50th anniversary in 2013.

Davies told Whats on TV that’s he is unlikely to contribute to the new episode in 2010, he said: I think I'd be like the ghost at the feast, what would I do - turn up and make the tea? ‘I have asked current boss Steven Moffat not to tell me what they are planning."

Storylines such as 'End of the World' and 'Runaway Bride' were amongst many created by Davies duing his time at Doctor Who.

The scriptwriter has been working on his new show Wizard Vs Aliens, coming to the BBC on October 29, when asked if he there would be any reference in his show to Doctor Who, he said: "I drew the line at Doctor Who, it would feel like the most awful in-joke! Even though I'd love the Daleks to turn up one day, we couldn't do it. They are separate universes."

The welsh born writer portfolio also includes the British Queer as Folk, ITV's The Secound Coming and Casanova.
