LeAnn Rimes broke down crying during an interview on US TV when talking about the reason behind her recent visit to rehab claiming, “No one can quite understand why you hurt so badly.”
In a preview of her first post-rehab TV interview with Katie Couric, the 30 year-old singer admits she feels she's “starting over” with her life after growing up in the spotlight.
“I was this big voice, this little girl that no one really knew much about,” she confessed in the preview. “I couldn’t really grow up even understanding who it was that I was.”
The star checked into rehab the day after her 30th birthday, for a month long treatment for anxiety and stress. “I feel like I’m starting over even though I’ve had all these years behind me. How many people get to start over again in this day in age?"
Country singer LeAnn, hit the big time when she was just 16 and after over a decade in music and two marriage, the singer claims it was time for her to take a break.
“I’d never taken a break for myself, to examine myself and to just learn who I am outside of LeAnn Rimes for 30 years.”
Rimes broke down in tears as she discussed the attention she received over her relationship with now-husband Eddie Cibrian. The couple began an affair while they were both married to different partners, during the shoot for TV movie 'Northern Lights'.
“There’s been so many lies,” she cried. “I made my choices and I’m living with them.”
She added that people can't understand how a huge star can be “struggling” with life.
“People look at you and go, ‘why are you struggling?’ No one can quite understand why you hurt so badly."
