The mother of X Factor star Jade Ellis has told of how the singer stood up to bullies after years and years of torment.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, care worker Stacey Baxter told of how her daughter eventually lashed out at her abusers, and has been untouchable since.
The 25-year-old soul sensation was seen on last night's show singing Ultra Nate's 'Free' after struggling all week with vocal problems.
Stacey recalled: "I said to Jade: 'Look, you are going to have to lash out so they know not to mess with you.'
"One day she did and no one has ever messed with her since. It was ridiculous but she did find her inner strength."
Violence has been rife in the 25-year-old's life since she was just four months old. In an unprovoked attack on a bus, she was thrown under a bus seat after her mother was punched in the face.
Now, she is raising her six-year-old daughrt Caiden with her partner Heba Elgamel.
Stacey said of their relationship: "My children were raised 'you are who you are', as long as you are loved and can be loved then I don't care."
Whether or not Jade's health problems have affected her standing in the public voting figures will be revealed on the show tonight when the results of the public vote are revealed.
