They're yet to begin their comeback mini-tour, but already The Rolling Stones are causing controversy. Ticket prices for their gigs in London and New York this November have enraged fans, and ranging from $172 to a huge $650, we can see why!
News of the Brit band playing their first concerts since 2007 sent a ripple of excitement through the music world, but many fans were shocked by the price of the tickets. The four dates, two at London's 02 Arena (November 25 and 29) and two at Newark, NJ's Prudential Center (December 13 and 15), were out of reach for many of the Stone's biggest followers as they were simply too expensive.
Fans eager enough to dole out money equal to a month's rent bought up all the tickets in a staggering seven minutes flat, proving that the Stones can get away with the outrageous prices due to their astronomical success. Fans will live their dream when the band take to the stage in November 2012.
The mini-tour commemorates the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Rolling Stones concert, and marks the first time the band have played together in five years. In a statement, lead singer Mick Jagger commented, "Everybody loves a celebration, and London and New York are two good places to do it in!"
The Metro printed some comments from fans, which blasted Mick, Keith and the gang as "greedy old b*******s".
DargeyBoy said: "Rolling Stones Tickets - £950 for the pit, £406 for floor / level 1 seats, £106 for up in the gods. What a group of greedy old ba******s".
FranStallman wrote: "Dam (sic) you Rolling Stones tickets why have you got to be so expensive."
Vichollins tweeted: "Offered "priority booking" by credit card for rolling stones tickets. Prices start at £300. Those divorces/rockstar habits must've added up!"
