Following a serious anxiety attack after last week’s performance, James Arthur was back on top form tonight when he delivered an exceptional version of LMFAO’s ‘Sexy and I Know It’.

As James took to the stage armed with his acoustic guitar, it didn’t look as if he would be able to deliver a performance that fitted into the week’s theme of ‘Club Classics’. However, as soon as he sang the first note, he had the whole audience gripped by his smooth tones.

Impressed with his performance, Gary Barlow confessed that he had “turned that song on its head” and it was “not only the performance of the night, it’s the performance of the series so far”.

In contrast, Gary wasn’t so impressed with previous favourite Ella Henderson. Following her rendition of ‘You’ve Got The Love’, he told her, “Dance moves done by Steps in the 90’s really cheapen your act. You’re the Adele of the competition, have you ever seen Adele do anything like that?” He also told the teen that her song choice was "slightly safer" this week. Disagreeing with Gary, the rest of the judges were taken aback by Ella’s performance and had to remind themselves that she is only sixteen.

The judges were also impressed by Kye Sonnes, who Tulisa compared to Chris Martin, and GMD3 who the panel told had benefitted from being in the bottom two last week.
