Billy Ray Cyrus, father of Miley Cyrus, has spoken out about his support for his daughter's engagement to actor Liam Hemsworth.
The couple have been together for three years, but when 19-year-old Miley revealed her engagement to 'Hunger Games' star Liam, 22, in June of this year many were shocked due to their young ages.
However, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus told Entertainment Tonight Canada that he couldn't be happier for his daughter, made famous for her role as Hannah Montana, and that he fully supports the couple's plans to marry.
On the announcement of the engagament Miley said that she "looks forward to a life of happiness" with her fiancee and it's clear that her Dad shares the a similar view.
In the interview he gave his blessing of Liam saying, "Liam's a great guy... I like Liam a lot." Billy also explained that Liam had sought his approval before asking Miley to marry him.
Speaking of Miley and Liam's relationship he commented, "The main thing for me is that both of them are happy. She and I have always had a mantra and the mantra was: if you ain't happy, it ain't working. As long as Miley's happy right now, life is good!"
