The tour dates are out, the new video has surfaced, and Girls Aloud have been seen publicly in the same room for the first time since 2009. The reunion is on!
It's now been ten years since Cheryl Cole (then Tweedy), Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals, scoring the 2002 Christmas Number One with 'Sound Of The Underground'.
Hosted by Davina McCall and judged by Geri Haliwell, Louis Walsh and Pete Waterman, the show was not considered a huge success and was not comissioned for another series.But, miraculously, the band survived the test of time and are still staples of the contemporary pop scene.
For Roberts and Walsh, it was very nearly all going to end in tears. They were not chosen among the Final 10 contestants for the Live Shows, and were only drafted in when two others dropped out.
One, Hazel Kaneswaren, is the older sister of Siva from The Wanted, and the other - also called Nicola - dropped out because she wasn't impressed with the pay the band would receive once the show was over. Wonder if she regrets it now?
Despite making it through to the band in first place, Cheryl was in the Bottom Two on two occasions. Kimberley was in the Bottom Two once.
