Taylor Swift has admitted that she is glad that there is speculation over her lyrics, even though it often surrounds which ex-boyfriend is she writing about now, because it shows that they are paying attention to the words, according to reports.
The country star, whose songs are often inspired by failed romances with exes that include Jake Gyllenhaal, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer and Joe Jonas.
“It doesn’t bother me when people try to deconstruct my songs – because at least they’re looking at the lyrics, and paying attention to the way the story is told,” she reportedly said.
‘We’re Never Ever Getting Back Together’, Taylor’s latest hit single, features the lyrics: ''Hide away and find your peace of mind / With some indie record that's much cooler than mine.''
The song is reportedly about her failed romance with Jake Gyllenhaal although Taylor hasn’t publicly confirmed whether that is true or not, but the blonde did reveal that her boyfriend would never compliment her music.
Talking about that line in particular, Taylor said it was the “most important”.
''That was the most important line of the song. It was a relationship where I felt very critiqued and sub-par. He'd listen to this music that nobody had heard of ... but as soon as anyone else liked these bands, he'd drop them,” she told The Guardian.
''I felt that was a strange way to be a music fan. And I couldn't understand why he would never say anything nice about the songs I wrote or the music I made.''
