X Factor finalist Rylan Clark might not be everyone's cup of tea but it appears that there are a few celebrities who are fans of the eccentric hopeful.
Having got the support of many of The Only Way Is Essex cast, Rylan found himself with another fan at the Attitude awards earlier this week when apparently Sir Ian McKellen gave him his number.
Recalling Rylan and Ian's meeting, a source told The Sun: "Rylan went to the Attitude awards on Tuesday night and was half expecting to just get more abuse.
“Everywhere he goes people give him stick but this was the complete opposite. Sir Ian McKellen of all people came up to him and said he was a huge fan and hoped he did well on the show.
“They swapped numbers and Rylan couldn’t believe his luck when Sir Ian said he’d be happy to offer him some advice.”
Whilst Sir Ian McKellen is a fan of Rylan, vocal coach David Grant obviously isn't after he branded the finalist "unbelievably fame hungry" during an appearance on Sky News.
He said: "You have had in the many years of X Factor many people desperate for success. But this is the first person I have ever seen that would dress up and cross the street to be at the opening of an envelope.
“This guy is just unbelievably fame-hungry. Rylan is the man who has had the greatest songwriter of our generation told he is deaf by someone who manages Jedward. Every time you think X Factor is a talent show, something like this happens to remind us that it’s not."
Appearing to label Rylan a "circus act", Grant added:
“If you are a circus act and you are somebody that people are going to look at because it is car crash TV and on the other hand you have the really good singer, the really good singer goes home because of the circus act. It’s not a talent show.”
