Adele may have released her award-winning album 21 nearly two years ago but fans will be left disappointed after the singer is not expected to release a new album "for some years", her record label has predicted.

21 was released back in January 2011 but Adele has yet to start work on the follow-up and is unlikely to return to the studio any time soon, her label XL Recordings have confirmed.

"The next Adele album may not come for some years, and it's impossible to predict its likely sales," a spokesperson for XL Recording told The New York Times.

Adele's 21 has sold over 24m copies since its release in January 2011 and has certainly made XL Recordings's bank balance grow, with reported £3 million to £32 million in a year.

The London singer has been out of the spotlight for a number of months as she prepares for the birth of her first child.

But while Adele maybe pregnant, that doesn't mean she's been putting her feet up! Oh no! The record-breaking songstress has been recording the theme tune for the new James Bond movie 'Skyfall'.
