Patti Smith has revealed that she once thought that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart could have “easily” portrayed her and the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the movie ‘Just Kids’.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the punk perfomer claimed that she once saw the ‘Twilight’ couple a few years ago, insisting there was “something in (Pattinson’s) eyes”.
“I remember the very first time I saw Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson together, when they were younger, and I thought, 'Those two kids could have easily played us when they were first starting. “There's something in his eyes. And Robert [Mapplethorpe] was also a bit shy, and a bit stoic. Kristen has a very special quality. She's not conventionally beautiful, but very charismatic.”
Smith is currently working on the silver screen adaptation of her 2010 memoirs. Talking about her relationship with the late photographer, she said: "Robert and I were very young. We were 20. We were unknowns, and I think it should be unknowns in the film, and young."
Rob and Kristen are now global stars, and with the finale of ‘Twilight’ fast approaching with the release ‘Breaking Dawn – Part Two’, both will be looking to shed the characters that they have become closely associated with, Bella and Edward Cullen.
Following rumours of a split, the Hollywood stars were pictured together this weekend, suggesting that their relationship is back on track.
