Breaking Bad may be the hottest show on US TV, but sadly all good things must come to an end, and with the show in its final (split) season, its stars are moving on, with Aaron Paul, who plays Jesse Pinkman, signing up to the movie version of the video game 'Need For Speed'.
The two-time Emmy winner has signed on as the lead in the DreamWorks’ movie.
According to EW, the film of the popular game series will be directed by Scott Waugh, maker of the Navy SEAL film 'Act of Valor'.
Holly Barrio, head of production at DreamWorks announced to the website that filming will start early next year and the movie will hit cinemas in February 2014.
Breaking Bad followed Paul as Pinkman, the wayward youth who along with Walter White (Bryan Cranston) becomes a powerful force in the murky world of crystal meth dealing and manufacture.
But with the last episodes of that series airing next year, Paul is beginning to ease his transition into the movie business, starring in 'Smashed', which examines the problems in a couple's relationship when it's built on booze.
Obvious comparisons will be drawn between 'Need For Speed' and the 'The Fast and The Furious' movies, while having video game heritage isn't a particularly great hallmark of good films.
However with an actor of Paul's dramatic range and quality signing up, hopes will be raised that the movie will be more than just an excuse to put fast cars on screen.
