Zayn Malik has admitted his relationship with Little Mix star Perrie Edwards isn't exactly a walk in the park, with the One Direction hunk admitting their busy jobs makes things “difficult” for the teenage lovebirds.
The X Factor duo went public with their relationship in April and despite accusations of cheating, have managed to keep their romance going even thought they are often on different sides of the globe.
Due to 1D's huge US success most of their time has been spent across the pond this summer, something the 19 year-old admits causes a problem.
“I wouldn’t say it’s hard but obviously it has its difficulties,” he told Heat magazine.
“You are away a lot of the time but I guess it’s just when you get back to them it means so much more, because when you have that time you want to make the most of it.”
Don't expect the boys to be slowing down anytime soon either as they are about to release their second album, Take Me Home. Zayn admitted it helped that Perrie was “relaxed” about dating a pop star.
“She's just cool man,” he explained to Fabulous magazine. “We both understand the job we're in.”
Despite Zayn claiming they're “cool” the pretty blonde reportedly wasn't happy when she heard rumours about her 1D hunk cheating. A tape of someone sounding like Zayn asking a girl up to his hotel room was released last month, though it's unknown when exactly the recording was made.
While Perrie chose to stand by her man, the 'Wings' singer was reportedly not happy. “Perrie was so upset when she heard the recording,” a source told Star magazine at the time.
“She trusts Zayn, but it’s hard to hear your boyfriend flirting with other girls and talking in that way. She feels humiliated. They are away from each other so much with their bands, so it’s important they can trust each other to be faithful."
They added: “[Perrie] doesn’t want to be one of those girlfriends who always stresses about what her boyfriend is up to. She knows boys will be boys but it was so upsetting.”
