It's fair to say that Gary Barlow's category hasn't got off to a good start. In the space of the two X Factor live shows that have taken place, two of Gary's acts have left the competition.
Having had to say farewell to Carolynne Poole last week after she was controversially sent home over her fellow finalist, Rylan Clark, Gary Barlow had to then bid farewell to Melanie Masson who left the show last night after the decision over who to send home went into (a less dramatic than last week) deadlock.
Admitting his confusion over the way the public voted over the weekend, the Take That frontman took to Twitter to question:
"So disappointed @MelanieMasson1 has gone ! What's happening out there ?"
The comment on Twitter came after the judge expressed his sadness at losing "one of the best singers in the competition."
According to the Telegraph, the judge commented shortly after it was announced that Melanie's X Factor journey was over:
"For me, Melanie is one of the best singers in the competition. I'm so disappointed."
Remaining graceful over her elimination from the show, 44 year-old Melanie said:
"I have absolutely enjoyed every single second of being here and the opportunities it has brought to work with Gary, to work with everybody. It's just been the best experience, I've loved it."
