Tom Harper has been announced as the new director of the sequel to ‘The Woman In Black’.
The new movie which has been called ‘The Woman in Black: Angel Of Death’, is set to be directed by Harper, who has been at the helm of a number of projects including a TV adaptation of The Borrowers with Christopher Eccleston and also several shows of Misfits.
In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Harper said: "This will be a great opportunity for me to collaborate with a brilliantly talented team on the next installment in this exciting series."
February 2012 saw Daniel Racliffe shed the infamous lightning scar of Harry Potter to play the role of a lawyer, who is sent to a haunted stately home called Eel Marsh House to settle a dead woman’s affairs.
The film was based on the book by Susan Hill, and quickly became the highest-grossing British horror film for two decades, taking £79 million at the worldwide box office.
The new movie will be written by Jon Croke, and it will be once again based on Hill’s novel and will pick up the story 40 years on from the Edwardian setting of the original book and film.
"Seized by the government and converted into a military mental hospital during World War II, the sudden arrival of disturbed soldiers to Eel Marsh House has awoken its darkest inhabitant,” reads the official plot synopsis.
“Eve, a beautiful young nurse, is sent to the house to care for the patients but soon realizes she must save them from more than their own demons. Despite Eve's efforts to stop her, one by one they fall victim to the Woman in Black."
Even though the movie will be set in the present day, it has been reported that Daniel Radcliffe could reprise his role briefly in the sequel.
