Despite critics panning Liam Neeson's action sequel 'Taken 2', it seems that cinema goers can't wait to see the veteran kick some butt, and terrorise the terrorisers trying to save his family... again.
The sequel has taken double the amount than the original at the box office, taking $50 million domestically over its opening weekends, according to studio estimates today (Sunday October 7).
Neeson's 2009 effort, 'Taken', too $24.7 million in the US. Movie bosses will breath a sigh of relief as the 20th Century Fox movie seems to have revived the Hollywood revenues somewhat following the noticeable slump since the blockbusters from the early 2012 - with the likes of 'The Avengers' and 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
'Taken 2' has been criticised by some reviewers as they deem it to be too close to the original movie. It sees Neeson reprise his role as the retired CIA agent, who is forced to use his expert skills to hunt down the gang who have stolen his family. This time though, it's the family of the men he killed from the first movie - who stole his daughter. Now his wife has been taken.
