Two years ago Gareth Gates put his marriage at risk when he admitted getting ‘too friendly’ with a co-star in a production of Les Miserables. Now the singer has been spotted getting up close and personal with another leading lady, Faye Brookes.
The 28 year-old 'Pop Idol' runner-up was left red-faced on Friday night when he was photographed flirting with Legally Blonde stage actress Faye Brookes after a few drinks too many.
Gates, 28, has a three-year-old daughter with his wife Suzanne, but that didn't stop him from cosying up to his co-star when the rain began to pour on Friday night. He's been pictured putting his arm around the dazzling blonde while they hurried down the street seeking shelter, while giggling and appearing to cheekily pinch her bottom.
Colleagues at the theatre have been feeding the rumour mill regarding their close relationship, and these pictures will do nothing to reassure Gareth's partner Suzanne. She is said to have forgiven the popstar two years ago after he admitted to a ' friendship' with actress Katie Hall, his on-stage lover in ‘Les Mis’.
Gates and Brookes play a couple in Legally Blonde at the New Wimbledon Theatre, which they've been doing since July. Has their on-stage chemistry caused a real-life reaction?
According to The Dail Mail, after Friday’s show, the pair left the theatre at 10.15pm with a large group of fellow cast members, heading to a nearby pub. After Gates posed for a few pictures with fans and had a drink with the cast, he left with Brookes at 11.30pm.
Laughing and joking, the pair huddled under an umbrella and "groped eachother's backsides" as they walked towards Gates’s white Range Rover Sport. They were then pictured arriving at Brookes' studio flat in Wimbledon, chatting as a flatmate came to answer the door.
It appears we're not the only ones interested in the relationship... apparently its the talk of the production! The Daily Mail reports:
"They are quite brazen about it," said a member of the Legally Blonde cast.
"They have adjoining dressing rooms and Faye is often sitting around in Gareth’s room. Some of the cast found it difficult to contend with because they are always friendly and respectful to Gareth’s wife when she pops in." What's he playing at?!
Gates has sold 3.5 million records since losing the Pop Idol title to Will Young back in 2002. He and Suzanne live in Chiswick, West London, with their daughter.
