Cheryl Cole got checked for sexually-transmitted diseases when she found out about ex-husband Ashley Cole's cheating, it has been revealed.
The national sweetheart makes the confession in her autobiography 'My Story', published this month and serialised in The Sun.
She explains: "His infidelity had been putting me at risk for a long time. I had to put my mind at rest."

Cheryl was told of his first reported liason with another woman by her record company, and says that he claimed he was too drunk to remember the evening in question.
Explaining that she felt "sadness, physical pain, sickness and fury like I'd never experienced," the 'Call My Name' hitmaker says that she shouted at the footballer.
"I hope she's worth it. It's the end of your marriage. It's f***ed," she yelled.
And, though she forgave him once, the continuous string of women coming forward to claim they slept with him resulted in divorce.
Cheryl has since moved on dancer Tre Holloway.
