As we all know by now, Anne Hathaway married Adam Shulman in a beautiful sunset ceremony last weekend. But what we may not have known was that, in quite possibly the strangest wedding present ever, the actress received a COW on her big day...
Anne Hathaway, who is set to star in this year's big movie 'Les Miserables' when it hits screens in December, was no doubt over the moon to find that a rescued calf had been sponsored in her name - all in celebration of her wedding.
After all, why say it with a toaster or blender when you can present the bride with actual livestock?
Animal activists at PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) were reportedly so happy that the actress had opted for an entirely vegan menu at her nuptials that they sponsored a little calf - named Peter (pun probably intended!) - in her honour.
Tracy Reiman, who is executive vice president of the charity, explained that Anne's vegan wedding was the "best thing" to help save animals from a "life of suffering":
"By going vegan, Anne is doing the best thing that she can to better her health and save calves like Peter from a life of suffering."
"Anne is living proof that vegans are beautiful from the inside out."
We wonder if Peter will ever get to meet his celebrity sponsor?
