It's fair to say that Seth MacFarlane is an intriguing choice to host the Oscars, and one that could either make it one of the best shows ever, or result in red faces all round at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Contemporary comedians have been hired before, but the likes of Jon Stewart have far more presenting experience than MacFarlane, better known for being the man behind a group of animated creations than his skills as a compere.
However MacFarlane has done comedy roasts in the past, and could provide some hilarious showtunes as much of his work is peppered with them.

MacFarlane's Family Guy is of course famous for making gags that could be said to be in the worst possible taste, and if Seth is half as foul mouthed and lacking in political correctness as his cartoon characters, the Academy could be in for a tough night.
His appointment could attract a new audience to the show and freshen up the Awards bash after a few years in which the show has generally been judged a bit of a dud.
So what do you think, will the Academy's gamble on new blood and what is likely to be a more risque show than recent years? Tell us if Seth is you think Seth is right for the show.
