The release of JK Rowling's new book 'The Casual Vacancy' suffered an embarrassing setback in the US when a glitch was found in the eBook edition.
The bug affected readers who had pre-ordered the long-awaited novel ahead of its publication, but publishers Hachette have since released a fixed version.
A statement acknowledged that fault prevented the font and margin sizes from being adjusted, causing difficulties for fans who require the text to be larger than usual.
They said: "As soon as Hachette was made aware of the issue, a replacement file was uploaded to all ebook retailers.
"Hachette has requested each retailer contact their customers directly about reloading their ebook."

"Any consumer who purchased the ebook on Thursday... who has not heard from the retailer, should contact them and request that their ebook be reloaded. No consumer should have to repurchase the ebook."
UK publishing house Little Brown confirmed that British fans have not been affected, but US fans have been quick to criticise the problem with online reviews.
Hachette had already been criticised for the hefty $17.99 price tag.
