Katy Perry's best friend Shannon Woodward has spoken out on Twitter following the death of Sons of Anarchy actor Johnny Lewis in Los Angeles yesterday claiming he was “very, very ill” and his actions were “a despicable result” of that.
The troubled former O.C. star died yesterday, days after being released from prison for assault with a deadly weapon. Police suspect he may have killed his 81 year-old landlady Catherine Davies before jumping or falling to his death from the roof of the home.
According to TMZ, police also suspect he may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
Taking to Twitter, Raising Hope star Shannon reportedly wrote, in a tweet that was later removed: "Johnny Lewis, I love you deeply and madly and always. My heart is broken in a million little pieces. I will miss you every day... (He) was one of my best friends. He was very, very ill. His actions were a despicable result of that. It was not who he was."
After removing the post, she later tweeted her condolences for the elderly victim.

The 30 year-old, who dated Katy Perry in 2006 “lost his way” according to Kurt Sutter, creator of Sons of Anarchy, which Lewis starred in until 2009. In a post on WhoSay blog, the TV producer claims it was a “tragic end” but not a particularly shocking one claiming the actor had been on a “destructive path”.
He wrote: “it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way.”
"I wish i could say that i was shocked by the events last night, but i was not. i am deeply sorry that an innocent life had to be thrown into his destructive path. Yes, it's (a) day (of) mourning, but it's also a day of awareness and gratitude. sadly, some of us carry the message by dying."
A source from the show told E!Online they were aware of his problems.
They said: "It wasn't a secret that Johnny had issues he was dealing with. No one could have expected it would end so tragically, though. Everyone is in shock."
Katy Perry has yet to publicly comment on the death, but sources claim she has been “devastated” by the news.
A friend told Us Weekly: "She is devastated. She had to separate from him to get ahead and focus on her career. He was in trouble then and she couldn't help him. A lot of her songs were partially inspired by him.”
