Avalanna Routh, the six year old girl known to millions as 'Mrs Justin Bieber' has died at the age of six, following a long battle with cancer.

The death of the huge Justin Bieber fan, who was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer in 2006, was announced by her parents on her official Twitter page this morning. (Sept 26)

They wrote: “Our darling Avalanna went to Heaven this morning. Oh Avalanna, the brightest star - you took our hearts with you, our greatest Love.”

Justin has since posted his own tribute to his fan, tweeting this evening: "just got the worst news ever. one of the greatest spirits i have ever known is gone. please pray for her family and for her."

He then added: "RIP Avalanna. i love you".

Avalanna had suffered from ATRT, or atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumour and endured chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Teen idol Justin Bieber became close to the young girl when he flew Avalanna and her family to New York to meet him in February this year after finding out about her love for him.

The pair spent the day together, eating cupcakes and even taking part in a mock wedding, where she became known to fans of the star as Mrs Bieber.

Justin tweeted soon after the visit: “That was one of the best things I have ever done. She was AWESOME! Feeling really inspired now!”

According to the Boston Globe Avalanna's mother Aileen Routh said of her daughter's friendship with the star.

“We were Bieber fans before, but there is now a whole new respect for this kid that did such a great job with her and was just so graceful in doing it.”

The pair stayed in close contact, with Avalanna tweeting earlier this month about Bieber's appearance on America's Got Talent.

She wrote: “@justinbieber Trying to stay up late to see my husband on Americas Got Talent #supportingmyman #mrsbieber"

Since her death was announced 'RIP Avalanna' has been trending worldwide on Twitter with Bieber fans paying tribute to the six year old.

One fan wrote: “RIP Avalanna. I'm sure you're in a much better place. You've brought smiles to Beliebers and Justin. Thank you for that.”

Our thoughts are with Avalanna's family at this sad time.
