Katie Holmes' fashion career has propelled ever since splitting from her actor hubby Tom Cruise, and it was back to business yesterday when the newly single star showcased her SS13 line for New York Fashion Week.(Sept 12)
The 33-year-old actress-turned-designer lapped up the attention that had nothing to do with her divorce as she beamed on entering the Big Apple's Lincoln Center.
Any word of Tom Cruise was left in the shadows as Katie's line stole the New York Fashion Week limelight despite the actress shunning the opportunity of a catwalk show, settling just for a presentation instead.
On justifying her decision, Katie said: "It's an honour to present here. It felt like a very natural step because it's not a whole big fashion show, it's a presentation.''
"It reflects the way that we design and the way we've always run our business, which is very quietly and relaxed. So we felt that this was a natural step to have more of an audience and show more buyers," she added.

Katie also banned any specifically uninvited journalists from attending the launch of her SS13 collab with Jeanne Yang, indicating that the actress might have been feeling the pressure from all of the attention on her highly anticipated line, and was possibly frightened of any bad press being written about her fashion brand following her split from Cruise.
Those lucky enough to receive a golden ticket from Katie were given a close up view of the collection which consisted of a navy, black and white colour palette of skirts, tops, red carpet ready dresses and leather jackets.
Vogue said the line ''packed a lot of punch'' whilst Women's Wear Daily said the beginners had ''the building blocks'' for a complete collection, indicating that the brand had a long way to go in terms of developing a high-end label.
The former Dawson's Creek actress looked relieved this morning as she was spotted exiting her New York hotel and heading out of the Big Apple, wearing a casual outfit of jeans, a stripy unbuttoned blouse and a navy jacket emblazoned with an embroidered rose.
Katie appeared to be going make-up free as she hid behind a pair of shades and scraped her hair back into a nonchalant updo, looking a far cry from her smartened up image she stepped out with to launch her line yesterday.
