Chad Johnson officially has serious legal trouble.
The former Miami Dolphin star has been charged with a misdemeanor battery for allegedly head-butting his now-estranged wife Evelyn Lozada last month, according to the State Attorney for Broward County, Florida.
If the ex-NFL player and 6-time Pro Bowl champion is convicted, Johnson faces up to a year behind bars.
Johnson was arrested on Aug. 11 after an epic fight with Lozada, following her confrontation about the condoms she had found in the car that belonged to her husband of a month.
Since Johnson’s arrest, the Miami Dolphins terminated his contract, their joint reality show Ev and Ocho was dropped by VH1 and Lozada filed for divorce.
In an interview with Nightline last month, his estranged wife and reality star of Basketball Wives confessed her marriage to Johnson was not able to be repaired, claiming he made a bad decision.
Johnson recently tattooed a portrait of his wife on his right calf muscle, refusing to sign the divorce papers as he insists her still loves Lozada.
