American Idol: Randy Jackson Will Judge, After Enrique Iglesias Negotiations Fell Through

It is unknown why his negotiations fizzled

American Idol continues to play musical chairs as Fox squashes negotiations with Enrique Iglesias to be part of the judging panel, signing on Randy Jackson as a judge again.

The Latin heartthrob was wanted as the fourth judge, alongside the already-signed on Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban, both finishing up their contracts to join the shows season 12.

Randy Jackson – who’s been a judge since Idol’s 2002 debut – was speculated to be demoted to a mentor role after producers tried to move him away from the judge’s table.

But with the recent negotiation developments with Iglesias – who’s currently on tour with Jennifer Lopez – Jackson is set to sign on again as a judge.

It’s unkown what was the reason behind negotiations with Iglesias to fizzle, but it is reported Idol was offering the I Like It singer a cool $4 million to judge on the music competition show.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the plan of attack is to announce the Idol judges panel consisting of Carey, Jackson Minaj, and Urban before the show’s auditions, which start in a couple of weeks.

American Idol will premiere on Fox in January 2013.
