Suri Cruise arrived at the Avenues private school in New York City this morning for the start of the new term and her first ever day of school.
Accompanied by her mother Katie Holmes, the youngster arrived holding tightly onto her pink school bag and as it's Suri, a coordinating pink bow. But that's where the fashionista's choice of clothing ends as the exclusive school requires pupils to wear uniform.
Suri looked smart as she arrived wearing a grey cardigan and white shirt, but it's not exactly the colour fest we are used to from the six year-old, with the Avenues uniform policy asking pupils to stick to white, grey and black.
It is the first time Suri, who has so far been educated at home, will attend school and according to sources she is “really excited” to start. Enrolling her at Avenues is part of Katie Holmes' attempt to give Suri a 'normal life' following the Dawson's Creek star's divorce from Tom Cruise.

A source told Life&Style: "Katie has eagerly been telling Suri all about the lunchrooms, basketball courts and different activities Avenues offers. Suri's really excited about it."
While we reckon Suri will love school, she's going to have to get used to wearing a uniform rather than the ensembles she usually puts together herself.
According to the school website a uniform helps “simplify life for children and parents.”
It states: “They eliminate those age-old fights between parents and children of deciding what to wear every morning. They remove school clothing as an Issue of economic or social exclusion, of unfair comparisons or peer pressure to purchase expensive clothes.”
This maybe one of the reasons Katie chose the school as she is said to be worried, with her million dollar wardrobe, that Suri is too spoilt and has been turning down designer gifts.
A source told Reveal: "Katie has been returning unsolicited gifts and loans from designers for Suri since she arrived in New York - which is to be her home base now, far away from Tom.
“She's issued instructions to remove Suri from all freebie lists. She's also put the word out in LA to stop any mini-me diva products being sent her way."
While Suri was accompanied by mother Katie, her father Tom, who also reportedly planned to be there for her big day, was no where in sight. He was pictured in London yesterday as he shoots for a movie.
