There has been so much speculation surrounding who exactly Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' that even we were shocked when the 'definite' person behind those emotional lyrics was revealed as ex boyf Jake Gyllenhaal and now it all makes sense - especially judging by her heart-felt performance at Thursday night's VMAs.
According to US Weekly, a source has said: “It’s definitely about Jake”.
The music video features an actor who looks like Jake and the lyrics are telling too: “Baby, I miss you and I swear I’m gonna change.”
And Swift's performance on Thursday was the fourth time she has performed at the VMAs - singing the song that has sold a record-breaking 623,000 digital copies. Impressive!
We definitely had an inkling that the track was about Jake, but now that it's been reported that this is definitely the case, it makes sense, especially as the pair apparently went through quite a tough break-up.
And fans had already twigged it seems, with one fan tweeting "oh m gosh Taylor swift could you make it more obvious that you were talking about jake gyllenhaal are you serious"
With another fan shocked that Taylor's 'never ever getting back together' with Jake, tweeting: "Wait. WHAT IN THE WORLD IS WRONG WITH TAYLOR SWIFT? WANEGBT is about Jake Gyllenhaal, I mean freaking gorgeous/hot/bangable Jake Gyllenhaal"
Taylor is known for writing about exes, including John Mayer in her song “Dear John.” We’re sure that Jake isn’t too thrilled, because John’s reaction in Rolling Stone was pretty crazy, with him saying:
“It made me feel terrible. Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
Who's going to be next in the long line of exes to have a song written about them by Ms. Swift?
Taylor's now 'all loved-up' with new bf Conor Kennedy
