Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong left fans in panic after he was rushed to hospital earlier this week with no explanation. But his bandmate has now revealed that the singer was infact suffering from 'severe dehydration'.
The rockers cancelled their planned concert in Bologna, Italy on Sunday night (September 2) after the 40-year-old was “rushed to the hospital ... due to illness" said bassist Mike Dirnt in a video to fans.
Armstrong is said to have remained under doctor's care for a mystery illness for several hours, but was discharged.
Speaking to MTV News, Green Day bassist Dirnt admitted he was very worried about Armstrong's health at the time.
"Billie came down with heavy, heavy dehydration; it was like severe dehydration, influenza, and it was just a really, really bad situation," Dirnt explained.
"He woke up in the morning and it was bad. Let's put it this way, if you're in your hotel room and you're vomiting profusely, it's not fun. So what are you gonna do? It's hard to sing while you're puking."
A spokesperson for Green Day has confirmed to MTV News that the band will still perform at the VMA awards show in LA tonight.

Green Day will now appear at MTV VMAs tomorrow (Wenn)
Green Day along with One Direction, Pink, Frank Ocean, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys are expected to arrive in Los Angeles later today (September 5) to begin rehearsals for the show.
