The new series of Downton Abbey is just around the corner as we start to get excited about seeing the return of some of our favourite characters, actor Dan Stevens has admitted that he may not be returning to the show.
The actor, who plays Matthew Crawley in the hit ITV1 period drama, hinted that his future on the show was uncertain during an interview with The Sun where he explained that he wants to see what the bright lights of Hollywood have to offer.
Stevens, whose character will be seen finally marrying Lady Mary in the new series, revealed:
"I am off to New York in about a month's time and it is going to be one big adventure. I will be taking the whole family out and we will be there for around six months.
"I don't know if I will be coming back to Downton as I don't know if they are doing another series yet."

Nooo! He can't leave yet!
Believing that Downton's stupendous popularity in the US has widened his horizon in the US, the actor, who will be taking to Broadway, added:
"It was a big decision to go as taking your family over there is a big thing but it's exciting. We have not found anywhere to live yet but we will pretty soon. It is all down to the success of Downton in America. The show has been a huge hit over there on the back of the Emmys."
He also added: "It's big over here but it is crazy over there. They really love it. I think that is to be celebrated and embraced. I can't wait to go. New York is one of the most exciting places on earth."
What do you think? Will you be sad to see Dan go if he decides to leave?
