Comedian Ricky Gervais has been forced to delay filming of Channel 4 show Derek, after being rushed to hospital late last week (August 30), it's been revealed.
The star was left with no choice but to delay the filming after he was rushed to A & E with severe abdominal pains, according to The Sun.
The funnyman was busy filming on Thursday, but work soon had to be halted after Gervais was later taken to hospital. He was later diagnosed with gastric flu after undergoing blood and urine tests.
And in true Ricky-style, he still managed to make a joke out of the situation despite being in a lot of pain. Gervais later said: "In some scenes Derek will look a little paler and sweatier than usual."
The Channel 4 series Derek was commissioned for a full series back in May after airing a pilot episode back in April.
Get well soon, Ricky!
Meanwhile, one door closes and another door opens it seems, in the world of showbiz (usually, that is...), as it seems like it's the end of an era for the staff of Dunder-Muffin as they will no longer be going back to 'The Office' next year.
The Office is coming to an end after nine seasons, executive producer Greg Daniels confirmed via a conference call Tuesday. The Emmy-winning comedy series will air its final episode May 2013.
"This year feels like the last chance to … make an artistic ending for the show," Daniels said.
Booo! Who else is sad to see The Office disappear off of our TV screens?
