Contrary to speculation, Sylvester Stallone's son Sage did not die of illegal substances and passed away due to a heart attack, with "nothing unusual" found relating to his death.

The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner confirmed that the 36-year-old first-born of 'The Expendables 2' star Sylvester, died of natural causes following a toxicology report TMZ claims.

At the time of his death earlier this year there was speculation that Sage had addiction issues and his death may have been due to an over dose, but this has now been proven wrong.

“He has hardening of the arteries,” Lt. Fred Corral said, also nothing that it was “unusual” that a person his age had such advanced coronary issues.

No drugs were found in his system, except a “therapeutic” level of hydrocodone, Corral added.

Sage’s body was discovered on July 13 in his Hollywood Hills home, but could have been dead days prior.

The Stallone family was notified Thursday afternoon.

Speaking about his grief on Good Morning America Sly said: "It's tough. It's very, very tough but if you have good friends and family support [you can get through it],"

"It's a horrible situation but time hopefully will heal. It's a reality of life.

"It's important to get back and try to start reliving your life or you can go into a spiral."
