Shia LaBeouf shocked those who thought of him as that nice young man from Transformers by signing up to Lars von Trier's movie 'Nymphomaniac', a role that could see him have sex on screen for real.
The star's girlfriend was reportedly seen in tears soon after, prompting speculation that she was upset that her beau could be having sex with another woman, and that the world would get to see it.
However LaBeouf insisted on USA Today that he did have ethics about what he does on screen, insisting that the's not utterly crazy in joining the film, saying: "There are rules. I have ethics, I'm not completely out of my mind."
But he saw little wrong with engaging in a little sex on screen, adding: "But I don't think there's anything wrong with sex. Sex is beautiful if it's done right. And I wouldn't just do it for no reason. Sex is different than love, and there is a separation, and that middle gap is what the movie's about."
Shia's latest movie set for release 'Lawless', for which he claims to have got blind drunk on moonshine, opens next week (September 7).
In the movie he stars with 'The Dark Knight Rises' Tom Hardy, as brothers engaged in the bootlegging business. The actor recently admitted to getting drunk on set for the movie, so much so that co-star Mia Wasikowska threatened to quit the film.
He told NY Magazine:"My drinking on this movie was as undestructive as I could possibly make it, if that makes sense.
"I did it for the movie. I didn't drink off set for no reason. I did it because, when I showed up on set the next day, my [bleep]ing eyes looked like this and my face... had that drunk bloat that I needed, that I couldn't have if that wasn't going on. Moonshine is different than liquor. Moonshine is closer to heroin."
