Emma Stone has said that she hopes her Spider-Man character Gwen Stacy will be killed off like she was in the original comics.

The actress, who is reportedly tied to film a whole trilogy with 'The Amazing Spider-Man' franchise, was speaking to Cameron Crowe for Interview magazine.

"[Fans ask] about whether or not the films are going to stay true to her story," she said. "Which I'm hoping they are.

"Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident. So the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing. Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it.

"But, of course, I want to stay true to that."

Stacy was seen dying in issue 121 of Amazing Spider-Man in 1973.

Stone and Andrew Garfield's first outing as the lovebirds was a box office success earlier this year.
