Few had heard of Sam and the Womp a month ago, but not any more as their debut single Bom Bom has a stormed to the top of the charts, selling over 107,000 copies.

The British big band have landed one of the year's fastest selling singles, ranking alongside the likes of DJ Fresh , Rita Ora, Wiley and Cheryl Cole as selling over 100,000 singles in the first week.

Frontman Sam Ritchie told OfficialCharts.com: "We really didn’t expect this at all for Bom Bom to go all the way to the top when we were writing it in a muddy field a couple of years ago, with Mr Aaron Audio falling off his chair!"

Rita Ora's How We Do (Party) is down to second spot, with Wiley's Heatwave dropping a place to third, and Olympic sensation Emeli Sande's Read all About It Part 3 in fourth spot.

Sam and the Womp are a British eight piece music group formed in 2009. Taking influences from Balkan and Jamaican music they've romped to the top of the charts!

Bom Bom Bom indeed!
