Florence Welch has revealed that she plans to take a year off from music before embarking on her next studio album.

The singer has announced her plans following a hectic year of touring for her latest release 'Cremonials' culminating in performances at this weekend's Reading and Leeds festivals.

The Florence and the Machine singer told Style magazine that she's keen to take a lengthy break from the music scene, saying

"There's a big 'take a year off' plan. The record company have put no pressure on me for the next album. They've said I can have as long as I want."

The hiatus could be down to Florence's well documented vocal chord problems. Earlier this year the singer was forced to cancel her headline appearance at Benicassim and another scheduled show at the Optimus Festival in Portugal following a vocal chord injury.

Meanwhile Florence has been named as one of the front-runners by bookies for the prestigious 2012 Mercury Prize. She's also set to make an appearance on the new album from Calvin Harris, '18 Months'. Looks like we're still be seeing Flo around then!
