Who needs the classified section when you have Craigslist, right Kristen and Dax?
The stars and real-life couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard put their sweat, blood and tears into their collaborative movie, Hit and Run.
"We actually enjoy spending time together," 32-year-old Bell said on the Today show on August 22. "Our shooting schedules take us to different cities and they separate us for 15 hours a day. When he shoots Parenthood, I shoot House of Lies, so to have an excuse to shoot together and work together was a real treat."
The 37-year-old Shepard penned the summer comedy, which he also co-directed with David Palmer, and with his fiancée’s help, the couple brought on board an A-list cast consisting of Bradley Cooper, Tom Arnold, Joy Bryant and Kristin Chenoweth.
"Dax wrote this in six weeks,” the actress said. “We just called all of our friends and said, 'Anybody have a couple days this summer? Who else would we put in? They were our first choices."
When it came time to hire the film’s extras, which included a handful of nude senior citizens, Shepard took a different approach.
"We did find them on Craigslist," Bell revealed to co-hosts Huda Kolb and Kathie Lee Gifford. "That's not a joke."
The naked extras appear twice in the film: First when Bell and Sheppard’s character’s enter the wrong hotel room, and second when a group of gang members make the same blinding error.
"Everybody knew what was happening, but I'm going to be honest: You can't really prepare for a scene like that.” Bell laughed out loud. “And Dax didn't let anybody see anything before we actually shot. So when Bradley Cooper, Joy Bryant and Ryan Hansen entered, that really was the shock on their face."
