The thief who broke into LL Cool J’s home earlier this week could be put away for life behind bars.

Jonathan A. Kirby, 56, has officially been charged with first-degree burglary with a person present, according to TMZ.

As if things couldn’t get worst for the alleged burglar, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has also charged him as a Third Strike Offender, which means that if Kirby is convicted, he faces 38 years to life in jail.

According to the website, Kirby broke into the actor’s home in Sherman Oaks, Calif., this week where he set off the alarm, which woke the music star.

LL came down the stairs of his mansion to find the intruder in the family room, where he took a swing at him causing Kirby’s nose and jaw to break. Prosecutors asked the judge to set his bail at $1.1 million.
