Universal have denied that Kristen Stewart has been sacked from the upcoming sequel to 'Snow White and The Huntsman' after her affair with its director Rupert Sanders. But in a new interview, writer David Koepp has sensationally let on that the actress may well have been fired.
The writer told Movieline: “[I worked on a script] that I really liked [for Kristen],” he says. “And [Universal's] situation, I hear, changed a little, so they weren’t interested in pursuing that idea anymore. I felt like there was a good path with [Kristen], but then they wanted to explore a different thing that I had no ideas for. If you don’t have any ideas, you should probably put your pen in your backpack and go home.”
Although he said that he parted "friends", with Universal he seemed to accidentally (or not so accidentally) twist the knife into the studio by contradicting their company line over the way that the first movie's star Kristen Stewart is being treated.
When asked if he could see a second film being made without Stewart he said: "Well, I couldn't. That was why I felt like I couldn't follow through."
It has been reported that the focus of the sequel would shift to Chris Hemsworth's character the Huntsman to avoid any awkwardness.
So has Kristen Stewart been sacked? If you believe the writer who seems to have let things slip then yes, if you believe official statements from the studio then not...yet.
