Rob-James Collier of Downton Abbey has told Entertainmentwise that the staff in his local village post office boo him whenever he walks in!
Speaking to our own George Barrat, he said that the reaction to his evil character has been "pantomime-esque".
He explained: "I live in a little village, and the ladies in the post office will boo me when I come in and the ladies in the bank will be the same.
"The ladies in the bank say 'you're so nice in real life, we can't believe you're like that!'"
Jim Carter added: "People love to hate you. The mark of a good villain is loving to hate somebody."
Downton Abbey returns to screens this autumn with Shirley Maclaine and War Horse newcomer Matt Milne joining the line-up.
