Director Tony Scott's Suicide Filmed By Onlookers

Scott's sad death seen by boaters underneath Vincent Thomas Bridge

'Top Gun' director Tony Scott's suicidal jump off an L.A. bridge was reportedly  witnessed by a number of  onlookers, including a group of passengers on a harbour cruise.

According to TMZ.com some took photos and shot video of the tragic event.

One of the passengers told the website: "He landed right next to our tour boat, and many of us saw the whole thing."

During his career Scott helmed numerous blockbuster films including 'Days of Thunder', Beverly Hills Cop II, 'Enemy of the State' and of course 'Top Gun'.

Scott reportedly  jumped off the Vincent Thomas Bridge at about12:30 PM on Sunday, with his body recovered by the L.A. Port Police a short time later.

The bridge is roughly 200 feet above the water. 'Top Gun' star Tom Cruise has been reportedly left grief-stricken after the fim makers' sad death.

According to officials Scott left a suicide note which was found in his office. Tributes have flooded in from around Hollywood for the director, with the likes of Keira Knightley, Ron Howard, Justin Timberlake paying their respects.

Scott was 68, and is survived by his wife, Donna Wilson Scott, and their twin sons, Frank and Max.
